BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Gather a few things.

This sheet and crayons; the book is an optional conversation starter.

One useful question

“How could we find out whether help is wanted?”

HOW IT GOES

  1. Think of an everyday moment when someone might want help.
  2. Draw what you noticed, how you could ask, and one possible action.
  3. Ask before helping. Afterward, draw what happened or what you would change.

Make it gentler

Use a pretend toy situation and practice asking.

Add a little stretch

Compare two helpful actions and explain why one might fit better.

A good place to stop

Name one thing you learned about the other person’s choice.
