You’re in charge.
Let’s make it go.
Grab a grown-up. Try a wild guess. Push a button.
What can you make this little computer do?
Your team: you + a grown-up. Take turns reading and trying. No computer skills needed.
can go a long way.
Small steps. Big discoveries. Your ideas.
The grown-up doesn’t need all the answers.
“Let’s find out together” is a very good start.
Pick your adventure
Ready, set… what if?
Start with adventure 1.
Follow your curiosity from there.
Your place, applied program, and notes stay in this browser. No names, accounts, or grades.
Let’s see what happens!
A teaching simulator for these adventures. No setup needed.
These number boxes are tiny storage places, called registers. They start at 0; your instructions fill them.
See or edit the computer code (optional)
The practice lab understands addi, add, sub, and simple branches. Numbers show in decimal. Applied changes are saved in this browser. Download your code for a separate copy. You can finish the lessons using the number controls without editing code.
Reset or keep a copy
Replay keeps your plan and clears the numbers. Reset replaces your plan with the lesson’s original instructions.
Look a little deeper
A register is a small place inside the processor that holds a number. These friendly labels sit beside their real names. x0 always supplies zero.
The practice lab uses 32-bit values and a small instruction set. It is not the full LearnRISC emulator.
For grown-ups: the full LearnRISC lab
You can complete all three adventures right here. LearnRISC is the family-made lab behind this project. Its lesson connection is still being prepared; this optional area is for trying that connection when it is ready.
Practice mode is ready now. The live connection is optional.
“What did you expect—and what happened instead?”
Take turns at the keyboard. Leave room for the detour.Built with patience. Shared with curiosity.
Real ideas.
A family starting point.
These adventures are inspired by LearnRISC, a computer lab built by a member of our family. Today’s lessons use a small practice simulator; the connection to the full LearnRISC lab is still being prepared.
Our part is the invitation: a few small experiments, a grown-up beside you, and room to ask another question.
