BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Gather a few things.

This sheet, a pencil and one familiar safe object.

One useful question

“Which part could someone else check just by looking?”

HOW IT GOES

  1. Look closely at the object. Write or draw three things you can observe.
  2. Add a guess about its story or purpose. Mark it as a guess.
  3. Think of a question or safe check that could help you learn more.

Make it gentler

Say one thing you see and one thing you wonder.

Add a little stretch

Ask a partner to sort your statements into observations and guesses.

A good place to stop

Keep one question for another day.
