BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Gather a few things.

This sheet, pencil, a clear walking path, optional tape for start and finish.

One useful question

If we both took smaller steps, what would happen to the number?

WHY THIS WORKS

A little more than a worksheet.

Measuring starts with noticing that units matter.

Make it gentler

Count in one hallway only. Use fingers or blocks to keep track.

Add a little stretch

Measure three other things (a rug, the hallway, the porch) and order them from shortest to longest.

A good place to stop

Share your best surprise with someone at dinner.
