A SIMPLE START

Print it and begin.

Patterns are easier to understand when kids can see, say, and move them. Continue each color sequence on the page, read the pattern aloud, then turn it into claps or stomps. The final row is blank so your child can invent a pattern and challenge a grown-up to continue it.

GROWN-UP TIP

Leave room for their version.

say each pattern with claps or sounds (clap, stomp, clap, stomp). Then try making one for your grown-up to continue.
