BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Gather a few things.

This sheet, crayons, a flashlight and a clear wall.

One useful question

“Who could this be? Show me the part you want me to play.”

HOW IT GOES

  1. A grown-up points the flashlight at a wall. Make a hand shadow.
  2. Give the shadow a name. Draw it in the first space.
  3. Decide what it is looking for. Draw or tell the ending.

Make it gentler

Copy a shape or sound; a story can be two characters saying hello.

Add a little stretch

Make one shadow become two characters. Explain what changed.

A good place to stop

Your character finds a place to rest. Say goodnight.
