BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Gather a few things.
This sheet and a pencil.
One useful question
“Where did my directions need one more detail?”
HOW IT GOES
- Mark a home on a1, a library on e5 and a blocked square on c3.
- Draw a route using up, down, left or right steps. Avoid the blocked square.
- Write the steps. Let your grown-up trace them with a finger; revise anything unclear.
Make it gentler
Use a shorter path and say each direction aloud.
Add a little stretch
Find a shortest route, then a different route of the same length.
A good place to stop
Switch navigator and traveler once.
